Patrick Scales' chances of returning to the Chicago Bears have just dropped. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears are not expected to tender the restricted free agent long snapper this offseason. This means Scales will become a free agent on Wednesday, and while he could return to the team, there is no guarantee at this point.

Scales entered the league in 2011 as an undrafted free agent out of Utah State. He spent the 2011 and 2012 offseasons with the Baltimore Ravens but never appeared in a game with the organization. In 2013 he was signed by the Miami Dolphins in early April but was released a little more than a month later. He spent training camp and the preseason with the New York Jets in 2013 but was released before the start of the regular season.
