The Jets draft targets at linebacker, cornerback and safety

If there is one position the Jets are set at, it is safety. After taking Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye in the first two rounds last year, they dont need to add anyone else at that position.

The Jets probably are not in the market for linebackers, either. They are hoping Darron Lee is a long-term starter at inside linebacker, and the team just signed Avery Williamson, hoping he can be paired with Lee for a long time. If anything, the Jets could add a linebacker late for depth and special teams help.

Cornerback is a position where the Jets have short-term answers but need to look for some long-term solutions. They signed Trumaine Johnson to a monster, five-year, $72.5 million contract in March, so he will be around for at least three years. But other than Johnson, everyone is on a short-term deal. The Jets clearly are not taking a cornerback in the first round, but maybe they go there in the third round (they dont have a second-round pick). Stanfords Quenton Meeks, Alabamas Anthony Averett and Floridas Duke Dawson all project as third-round picks. If they wait until the later rounds, Tulanes Parry Nickerson is a possibility.
