Report: David Irving will attend Cowboys' mandatory minicamp

It's been a very trying offseason forA David Irving.

Entering 2018, the veteran pass rusher was left to wonder if theA Dallas CowboysA valued him enough to place a first-round tender on him as he entered restricted free agency, to then land with a second-round tender instead. Fine with playing under the designation that will pay him $2.914 million this coming season, Irving was expected to remain with the club unless another NFL team made an offer that blew him away. While the business side of his world was essentially flowing in effortless fashion, his personal life has been anything but.

Irving found himself accused of domestic violence by the mother of his daughter, Angela Sanchez, via a Twitter account hack wherein she reached out directly to major media threatening to reveal details that could end his football career and, more importantly, his freedom.

The allegations have since been recanted and again alleged as the two battle for custody of their child and in the meantime, the NFL has launched its own investigation into the matter which could result in a suspension if they believe he violated a league policy. Seeing as running backA Ezekiel ElliottA was suspended for six games just last season for an unproven allegation, it stands to reason Irving would be worried going forward. What's worse is that's not the most pressing concern for him, with OTAs now behind him as he worked to get "back into shape" -- as described by head coachJason GarrettA -- while staying focused on permanently gaining custody of his daughter.

Irving responded emotionally to those questioning why he was absent for the totality of OTAs.
